Griffin, now a former UFC athlete, was inducted into the UFC Hall of Fame in 2013. His last bout was against Tito Ortiz on July 7, 2012 at UFC 148. It was the third match between the pair. Griffin won the bout by unanimous decision, with the fight winning the ‘Fight of the Night’ bonus too. 

Griffin was expected to fight again at the end 2012, however the two bouts he had placed were cancelled. He then retired in 2013.
