Silva made his debut at Ultimate Fight Night 5 on 28 June 2006. His opponent, Chris Leben, who had gone undefeated in the UFC with five consecutive victories. Silva had an incredible debut, defeating Leben with a flurry of punches and ultimately knocking Leben out. He went on to compete in 25 bouts, winning 17 of them, securing a multitude of bonus awards along the way as well as several records including longest win streak in UFC history, most UFC Middleweight title fights, most wins in UFC Middleweight title fights and most successful title defences in the UFC middleweight division.
